UW-Stout Blue Devils

The UW-Stout Blue Devils boast an impressive group of alumni, particularly in athletics. Stout has produced three NFL players, an Olympic gold medalist, collegiate basketball and football head coaches, as well as Joe Vavra, hitting coach for the Minnesota Twins. Vavra was even the pitcher for Justin Morneau when he won the ’08 Home Run Derby. As for the Olympian, Jon Peterson won the silver in men’s freestyle wrestling at the ’72 games in Munich and followed that up with a gold medal in Montreal during the ’76 games.
